Updated
Advertising is currently turned off: no ads are shown. Google’s AdSense script still loads on every page for site review; see the advertising paragraphs below.
Calculations, batch processing, timesheet totals and calendar notes are handled in browser memory. There are no accounts, database, cloud sync or file uploads. Opening a shared calculation URL can send its query parameters to the hosting server as part of the page request.
On the home page, your browser contacts FreeIPAPI (free.freeipapi.com) to suggest a nearby major city. That service receives your public IP address as part of the request and returns an approximate location. TrueHour uses the coordinates temporarily to find the closest listed city with at least 100,000 residents; it does not save your IP address or coordinates or request precise device location. IP location can be inaccurate, especially with a VPN. You can select another city at any time. Your device’s time zone is the fallback if lookup fails. FreeIPAPI has its own privacy practices.
City searches run locally using a downloadable GeoNames city list. Typed city names are not sent to a search or location provider. GeoNames data is licensed under CC BY 4.0; the source and transformation details are available at /data/cities-source.json.
Settings such as pins, appearance and clock zones are stored under TrueHour-specific browser keys. Private input presets and timer recovery checkpoints require explicit saving. Others with access to the same browser can read them. You can export or clear saved data in My Tools.
Some tools keep their current setup in an address-bar fragment. Copy calculation link creates a query-string URL that restores the inputs, including pay figures or time card rows when shared from those tools. Query strings can appear in hosting logs, browser history and messaging previews; fragments are not part of normal HTTP requests. Anyone with either kind of link can read its contents. Countdown titles, calendar notes and batch file contents are excluded from their setup links.
Google Analytics loads only after you choose Allow analytics. It measures page visits and basic engagement using cookies, browser/device information and connection information received by Google. Calculation inputs and form entries are not included in the events TrueHour configures. Analytics does not load in My Tools, time cards, PTO accrual, calendars, batch tools, or pages opened with any query string or fragment. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled. Google explains its data practices at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Use Analytics preferences in the footer to allow or decline analytics at any time. Your choice is saved in this browser for six months. Declining stops Analytics and clears its first-party cookies. No Google Analytics requests are made before consent or on subsequent visits after declining. Clearing browser storage resets your choice.
The hosting provider may retain ordinary request logs, including IP addresses and requested paths. External resource links lead to independent websites with their own privacy practices.
Every page loads Google’s AdSense script so Google can review the site for advertising. While advertising is turned off there are no ad spaces and no ads are shown, but loading the script lets Google receive connection information such as your IP address, browser information and the page address, and Google may set or read cookies. When advertising is enabled, ads may appear on the home page and selected calculator pages. Ad availability varies; unfilled ads are hidden while their layout reservation remains.
Ad spaces are excluded from time cards, PTO accrual, calendars, batch tools, My Tools and other routes outside the advertising allowlist, and no ads are requested when an eligible page opens with any query string or fragment. TrueHour does not configure calculation-input events for Google. Disclosed partner links may appear beneath Work tool guides; following a partner link takes you to a separate site with its own privacy practices.
Advertising cookies and your choices
When Google advertising is enabled, Google and other third-party advertising vendors may place and read cookies, or use web beacons, IP addresses, and similar identifiers to deliver and measure ads. Advertising cookies can allow Google and its partners to select ads based on visits to TrueHour and to other websites, subject to your settings and consent where required.
You can manage Google’s personalized advertising through My Ad Center and learn about participating third-party opt-outs through YourAdChoices. Opting out of personalized ads does not necessarily remove all ads or all cookies used for measurement and other purposes. You can also manage or delete cookies in your browser.
Any advertising consent message must identify the participating providers and provide the applicable choices before advertising is activated. The Analytics preferences control on this site applies to Google Analytics; it is not an advertising consent manager. In regions where Google requires a certified consent management platform, that platform must be configured before ads are served.
Privacy questions and policy updates
Use the Contact page for privacy questions or to report something that does not match this policy. Do not include private timesheets or other people’s information in a message. Saved calculator data is held in your browser, so clearing it requires using My Tools or your browser’s storage settings.
This page’s update date identifies its latest revision. If the site’s data practices change, the policy must be updated to describe the changed behavior.
